Your law, your interest
Your contract is usually governed by your German or Austrian law; best to state that in your quote and your terms. For business clients, German law gives you 9 percentage points above the base rate, so 10.52% for the second half of 2026, plus a EUR 40 flat fee. Austrian law gives you 9.2 points, so 10.73%, also with EUR 40. The late-payment interest calculator works out the exact amount.
The three templates
Pick where your business is based, Germany or Austria, above each template: the rate, the law and the flat fee are already filled in. You only replace the bracketed placeholders.

What is different with clients in Ukraine
- Payments abroad are allowed, with checks. Martial law has applied in Ukraine since February 2022, and the National Bank restricts transfers abroad. Payments for imported goods and services are allowed, though. Your client's bank checks the documents for the deal first.
- Offer the documents up front. That is why Stage 2 offers to send the contract and invoice for the bank. Keep both ready, so the payment does not stall over a missing document.
- No date means seven days. There is no statutory cap on payment terms. If no date is agreed, your client must pay seven days after your payment demand. A clear due date on the invoice saves you that detour.
- Hryvnias or euros. The local currency is the hryvnia (UAH). If you invoice in euros, your client handles the exchange and you carry no currency risk. Give your IBAN and BIC (SWIFT) and the invoice number as the payment reference.
- No German VAT. Services to business clients outside the EU are not taxable in Germany or Austria. That is why the templates leave out the reverse-charge line for EU clients.

Frequently asked questions
Can I send a client in Ukraine a payment reminder in English?
Yes. The official language is Ukrainian, but if you have been writing to each other in English, an English reminder is the natural choice. What matters is the invoice number, amount, deadline and bank details.
How much interest can I charge?
Under German law 10.52% a year, under Austrian law 10.73%. On top comes a EUR 40 flat fee (as of the second half of 2026). If your contract uses your client's law, their rules apply.
Can my client pay abroad at all under martial law?
Yes. The National Bank allows transfers abroad for imported goods and services. Your client's bank checks the documents for the deal first.
What payment terms apply in Ukraine?
Whatever you agreed, as there is no statutory cap. Without an agreed date, your client must pay seven days after your payment demand.
