Journey · Invoices that chase themselves

Set the schedule once. Backbone does the awkward emails.

A reminder after 3 days, a first notice after 14, a second after 28. Your wording, the statutory interest, and it stops the moment you mark the invoice paid.

7-day trial, card required. €0.00 due today.

One schedule, four moments. Each one sits on the same invoice page and in the same Dunning list.

  1. Due date

    Invoice overdue

The invoice lands in Dunning. Nothing is sent on the due date itself.

  2. +3 days

    Friendly reminder

A courtesy note with the invoice attached again, in your wording.

  3. +14 days

    1st notice

A firmer note with the late-payment interest on the overdue amount.

  4. +28 days

    2nd notice

The last step, with interest and, if you switched it on, the €40 flat fee.

Your days, your wording. Set it once in Settings › Reminders.

  • Days per step, from the due date
  • Your own text for each step, with placeholders
  • Interest and flat fee on or off
  • Automatic reminders on or off for the whole workspace

The legal rate, worked out for you. Austria and Germany differ, so Backbone uses the rate of your country.

Between businesses the statutory rate is a fixed margin above the base rate, which changes twice a year. Backbone calculates it per invoice and shows a short note that this is not legal advice.

It stops by itself. No chasing someone who has already paid.

  • Mark the invoice paid and every further step is cancelled
  • Pause an invoice and resume it any time
  • Every step is listed on the invoice, so you see what went out and when

Dunning questions

Three steps: a friendly reminder, a first notice and a second notice. By default they go out 3, 14 and 28 days after the due date, and you can change the days and the wording in Settings › Reminders.

The statutory late-payment interest for your country, calculated for you: in Austria 9.2 percentage points above the base rate between businesses (§ 456 UGB), in Germany 9 percentage points above the base rate between businesses (§ 288 Abs. 2 BGB). A short note next to it says it is not legal advice.

Both countries allow a flat fee of €40 on top for business customers (§ 458 UGB in Austria, § 288 Abs. 5 BGB in Germany). You switch it on or off in the schedule.

Yes. Pause it in the Dunning list and nothing goes out until you resume it.

When you mark the invoice paid. Matching incoming payments to invoices automatically is coming soon and is not live yet.

Only what you scheduled. The schedule is yours: switch automatic reminders off and every reminder waits for your click.
