Three stages, fully automated.
3 days overdue
A friendly reminder
A short note that assumes the best: the invoice may simply have slipped. No fee, no interest, and a line that says to ignore it if payment is already on its way.
14 days overdue
The 1st notice
Now the late fee and the interest are added and shown line by line, with a new pay-by date and the invoice attached again.
28 days overdue
The 2nd notice
The same amounts under firmer wording, with a last pay-by date.
Paid
The chasing stops
Mark the invoice paid and the process is resolved: nothing else is sent, and the whole history stays on the invoice.
Interest and late fee, worked out for you. At the statutory rate of your country, with a short note.
- Austria: base rate plus 9.2 percentage points between businesses (§ 456 UGB)
- Germany: base rate plus 9 percentage points between businesses (§ 288 Abs. 2 BGB)
- A €40 flat fee for business clients (§ 458 UGB, § 288 Abs. 5 BGB). It is a setting, so you decide whether to charge it
- The base rate changes on 1 January and 1 July, and Backbone updates it for you
