In short
My goal is to optimise and automate back-office tasks so that we founders can focus on what matters most.
Automating back-office work with AI agents and AI integrations is the future – that's why I built Backbone!
Luca · Founder, Backbone
Backbone is the agentic back office for teams and agents.
Austrian rules, built in. Backbone checks, calculates and keeps it for you.
| Rule | Law | What Backbone does |
|---|---|---|
| Mandatory details before you issue | § 11 UStG | warns before you issue |
| Note for small businesses | § 6 (1) no. 27 UStG | adds the note |
| Late-payment interest under Austrian law | § 456 UGB | adds interest + €40 |
| Issued means unchanged | – | cancels, never overwrites |
| Everything exportable | § 132 BAO | ZIP per month or year |
| Euros, German and English | – | invoice in German or English |
Missing your address, your tax or VAT number, or your client's VAT ID on a reverse-charge invoice? Backbone tells you before the invoice goes out.
Using the small-business exemption? Your invoices show no VAT and carry the Austrian note under § 6 (1) no. 27 UStG.
Reminders use the statutory rate for Austria: between businesses 9.2 percentage points above the base rate (§ 456 UGB) plus a €40 flat fee (§ 458 UGB). Which law applies depends on your contract.
Every issued invoice is stored once as a PDF. Corrections go through a cancellation and a new invoice, the original stays as it is.
A month or a whole year as a ZIP: invoices, receipts, bank statements and a CSV report. Your seven-year retention duty (§ 132 BAO) stays with you, and the files are yours any time.
Invoices in euros, the document in German or English depending on the client.

Ask instead of searching. The answer comes from your wiki.
How do we claim travel expenses?
search_wikiread_wikiAccording to the wiki page "Travel expenses":
Month complete. One link, done.
Send October to my tax adviser.
send_to_bookkeeperFrom the hour to the export. Nothing retyped.
Track hours with the timer at the top of every page or with one sentence in ChatGPT or Claude. Every hour lands with the right client and project, at their hourly rate.
At month end, open hours become invoice lines in one click. Backbone checks the mandatory details under § 11 UStG, assigns the next number and e-mails the invoice as a PDF. If it stays unpaid, Backbone sends reminders on a schedule.
Upload receipts as PDF or photo and Backbone matches them to your bank transactions. At month end a ZIP with invoices, receipts, statements and a CSV report goes to your accountant.
Guides for Austrian businesses. Short, with the law section and a check date.

What an Austrian invoice must show: the nine details under § 11 UStG, your client's VAT ID above €10,000, small-amount invoices up to €400, and the special cases that trip people up.

Late-payment interest 2026: Germany 10.52 % (B2B) or 6.52 %, Austria 10.73 % (B2B) or 4 %. The formula, a worked example, the €40 flat fee and a template.

From 1 October 2026 a receipt in Austria counts as issued when the customer can read it on a screen on the spot. That is not a new obligation — and if you only invoice by bank transfer it does not apply to you at all.
