Works in the ChatGPT desktop app and on the web.

Desktop app

  1. Open Settings › Plugins, go to the MCPs tab and click Add › Connect to a custom MCP.
  2. Name: Backbone.
  3. Type: Streamable HTTP.
  4. URL: https://back-bone.io/api/mcp.
  5. Leave Bearer token env var and Headers empty.
  6. Click Save, sign in to Backbone in the browser window and click Allow.

Web

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins, click + and choose Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name: Backbone. Server URL: https://back-bone.io/api/mcp. Authentication: OAuth.
  3. Click I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
  4. Install the plugin, sign in to Backbone and click Allow.
  5. In a new chat, type @ and pick Backbone.

Claude

Works in Claude on the web, desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it first under Organization settings › Connectors.

  1. In Claude, open Settings › Connectors and click Add custom connector.
  2. Name: Backbone. URL: https://back-bone.io/api/mcp. Click Add.
  3. Click Connect, sign in to Backbone and click Allow.

Try it: “Which invoices are overdue?”

Claude Code: one command, then /mcp to sign in.

Grok

Works on grok.com. On Grok Business and Enterprise, an admin adds it first under console.x.ai › Grok Business › Connectors.

  1. Open grok.com/connectors and click New Connector › Custom.
  2. URL: https://back-bone.io/api/mcp. Sign-in: OAuth.
  3. Sign in to Backbone and click Allow.

Try it: “Which invoices are overdue?”

Grok agents: an agent that runs in a tool with MCP sign-in, like Cursor, connects the same way. Same address, same sign-in.

Connect the Backbone connector for me. It's a remote MCP server at https://back-bone.io/api/mcp and it signs in with OAuth through my Backbone account, so no API key is needed. Add it without asking for confirmation, then show me the sign-in card.

Muse by Meta is available in the US and Canada so far, not yet in Germany or Austria. Where Muse is available, you add Backbone as a custom connector on muse.ai.

  1. In Muse, ask: Create a custom connector for Backbone with the address https://back-bone.io/api/mcp.
  2. Sign in to Backbone and click Allow.
